Our Master of Arts in Education/Adult Education and Training (MAEd/AET) degree program can help you develop the skills and expertise essential to working with adult learners in a corporate training, professional development, community college, non-profit or human services setting. The curriculum encompasses instruction in andragogical theory, the needs of adult learners, critical issues in adult learning, instructional design and strategies, assessment and the growing use of technology for successful learning in the 21st century.
The Master of Arts/Adult Education and Training (MAED/AET) program is designed for individuals interested in working with adult learners in areas such as corporate training, non-profit and community-based organizations, government, postsecondary education, and human services agencies. Learners develop competencies and expertise necessary to align education and training with strategic objectives and human services foundations across an enterprise with culturally diverse populations. Learners expand their knowledge in andragogical theory, instructional design and strategies, assessment of learning, delivering online learning, management and marketing, and technology integration. In addition, learners engage in practice through collaborative learning, social media, and community-based learning. Graduates will be able to serve adult students, colleagues, industries, and communities as expert educators and trainers.
The Master of Arts in Education/Adult Education and Training is a graduate degree program intended for students interested in working with adult learners in an educational or training environment. The MAED/AET does not prepare students for any type of professional certification or state licensure as a teacher. The program is only intended as an advanced degree.
State authorization to provide a program related to the preparation of teachers or other P-12 school/system personnel does not indicate eligibility for an Alabama certificate. Applicants for an Alabama certificate based on reciprocity must meet Alabama’s test requirements and submit a valid, renewable professional educator certificate/license issued by another state at the degree level, grade level, and in the teaching field or area of instructional support for which an Alabama certificate is sought and for which Alabama issues a certificate. Applicants for Alabama certification in an area of administration must also document at least three years of full-time employment as an administrator in a P-12 school system(s). http://www.alsde.edu
A student seeking an Iowa educator license is advised that successful completion of this institution’s program(s) of educator preparation does not qualify the student for initial educator licensure by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. A candidate seeking licensure in the State of Iowa must first be licensed/certified as an educator in the state in which preparation was completed. For Iowa students enrolled online, this will be Arizona.
